Time : 08:00
We begin the day in Bohinj at 8:00 AM, then pick up guests in Bled at 8:30 AM, and set off through the picturesque Upper Sava Valley, heading toward the Julian Alps.
Our first scenic stop is at Zelenci Nature Reserve, a magical emerald spring where Slovenia’s longest river begins. This peaceful natural gem offers stunning photo opportunities and a perfect introduction to the alpine landscape.
We pause at Lake Jasna, a stunning alpine lake at the foot of the Julian Alps. A short and easy walk around the lake rewards us with crystal-clear reflections, scenic bridges, and mountain views.
We continue our journey over the Vršič Pass, the highest mountain road in Slovenia at 1,611 meters above sea level. As we gently wind our way up through a series of scenic bends, we’re surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Julian Alps, right in the heart of Triglav National Park.
The road was built during World War I by Russian prisoners of war, and along the way we pass the Russian Chapel, a touching wooden memorial that commemorates their story
As we descend into the Soča Valley, we are welcomed by one of the most beautiful alpine river valleys in Europe. The turquoise waters, suspension bridges, and dramatic cliffs create a truly unforgettable panorama.
We take a short, flexible walk along one of the river’s famous natural gorges – such as Velika Korita, Mala Korita, or another hidden gem – depending on conditions and group ability. It’s a perfect way to get close to the raw beauty of the Soča River.
We stop in Bovec, a charming alpine town nestled beneath the mighty Kanin mountain. Known as Slovenia’s adventure sports capital, Bovec is lively in summer with activities like canyoning, rafting, and hiking. We’ll have free time here for lunch and a bit of exploration.
Continuing along the Soča River, we pass tranquil alpine villages and enjoy views of the valley’s serene beauty.
Our adventure concludes with a unique car train ride from Most na Soči back toward Bohinj. As we relax and pass through tunnels and mountain scenery, we reflect on the stunning diversity of the day.
In case the train is not running or we miss it due to unforeseen delays, we return comfortably by road over the scenic Sorica Pass, passing remote alpine villages and beautiful countryside.
Upon arrival, we provide drop-off at both Bled and Bohinj, depending on your starting point.
FAQ
No special gear is required. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes or light hiking shoes – sports shoes with good grip are also fine. This is especially useful for the short walk on Vršič and along the Soča gorges. A light jacket and water bottle are also a good idea, as we’ll be spending time in alpine terrain where the weather can change quickly.
If the car train is not operating or we miss the departure due to timing, we’ll return by road over the scenic Sorica Pass. This alternative is just as beautiful and brings us comfortably back to Bohinj or Bled.
Lunch is not included, but we’ll stop in Bovec, where you’ll have free time to choose from several local restaurants or cafés. Your guide can recommend great spots depending on your preferences.
Yes! The tour starts in Bohinj at 8:00 AM, with a pick-up in Bled at around 8:30 AM. After the tour, we’ll drop you off at the same location (Bohinj or Bled), depending on your starting point.
Bring comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, good walking shoes, a light jacket, water, and a camera. Sunscreen and sunglasses are also recommended in summer. You may also want some cash or card for lunch or optional snacks.
Yes – the Vršič Pass is a well-maintained mountain road with beautiful views and a steady ascent. Although it includes several bends, the road is paved and safe, and our experienced driver will make the journey enjoyable and comfortable.
